Angela Nelson founded Stages Learning Materials in 1997 as a vehicle to publish and distribute her line of photo–based teaching tools for children with autism and special needs. Currently Angela is President and CEO of Stages Learning Materials.
As an undergraduate, Angela studied behavioral psychology at UCLA under Dr. Ivar Lovaas, head of the premier program in the treatment and education of children with autism. Following her graduation, she worked four years as a senior therapist for the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, supervising educational programs, performing assessments, and conducting workshops for parents and professionals across the country and in Europe. Angela developed Stages' top–selling line of autism education products with a user–centered approach, to specifically meet the needs of parents, educators and therapists in the autism education community.
Angela received her B.A. in Psychology and a J.D. from UCLA, and her Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education's Technology, Innovation and Education program. Angela holds an Executive Committee seat on the Board of Directors for the Education Market Association and serves on multiple association committees, including the EdMarket Legislative Committee advocating for important issues which effect education as a whole, and specifically the educational manufacturing and publishing industry. As a consultant, Angela develops curriculum, supplemental products and technology for numerous companies in the school supply and educational publishing industry.
